Love who you are because even if you don’t find yourself attractive, many others do.
So I’ve been getting a lot of questions towards my exercise plan. Well in all honesty, there has been no exercise plan. Now I’m not trying to say that you don’t need exercise to lose weight, but before you get all crazy and start becoming a gym rat, it’s best to assess how “fit” you are to exercise to begin with.
Many people do pilates their whole life, but not lose weight entirely because they didn’t begin the weight loss step right. Think about it:
1 hr Pilates 200 lb adult (336 calories) - Bagel Twist (400 calories) = -64 calories
^^That is a visual that you can exercise, but improper diet will still ruin it for you! Now, when I get down to 200 lbs, I think that shows that I have mastered my portion control and size so the next step would be proper exercise!
:)
So how did I lose my first 5 pounds?
Background Info: I lost my first 5 pounds in a span of about 2 weeks
Winning Ways: The biggest change I made was my diet. I am ASIAN so I am very heavy with starch (rice and carbs) so while I didn’t cut it out (c’mon it’s my lifestyle!), I did significantly cut the portion of my carbs. I would only eat it at breakfast and lunch. Never for dinner.
Tips & Tricks: The trick while dieting is *drum roll* SNACKS! Seriously, snacks do help because they fight hunger pangs and keep you from overeating. Water also significantly reduces hunger but the things that helped me out is Granola bars and cheese.
WOOHOO!
Hello, hello, hello everyone!
I missed my followers! Sorry for the blog post delays, but so much things are happening! School will officially start for me next week Tuesday so I’m trying to get all of that sorted out! So, first thing to do is update ya’ll on my progress. I am happy to announce that 5 pounds have been shed! *HAPPY DANCE*
Now, of course I’m not gonna leave you all hanging..for now.
;) I will share my tips on how I shed my first 5 pounds ;)

I got this image from ms surfnrunner and I thought that this was a very scale to determine whether we are really hungry or not. Often times, we declare and feel that we are hungry, but really it’s just ourselves convincing that we are. Hope this chart helps. Sure helped me :)
Hello all! And I would like to welcome my new followers :)
So today, in terms of dieting everything has went well. Here is my record for today:
Breakfast: Pineapples, Nature Valley Granola Bar (Honey and Oats)
Lunch: Enoki Mushrooms, 1/2 Nature Valley Granola Bar
^Now, that may not seem a lot, but I still have dinner to go and I’m not quite sure what to eat yet :p
Tip: Granola Bars are EXTREMELY helpful when trying to diet. It has lots of dietary fiber which moves the bowels down your intestines while keeping you full. But CAUTION! Some granola bars are FILLED with sugar so make sure that when buying granola bars, read the label. If the dietary fiber is 2g or higher, its good to go. Also, look at the calories.
Here is a picture of the granola bars I have been eating:

Again for this particular granola bar, the calories may seem intimidating when dieting but, it truly keeps you full for a good 4 hours so it can substitute a meal. Also, these bars are MEGA yummy and pleasing to the taste so its good for someone who is on the go.
You may be asking why I choose to end my posts with “Healthy by 20” rather than my name. Well the answer is simple because I am speaking for the many girls out there who continually struggle with their weight, including me. I am part of the journey that many girls endure throughout the lifetime. This is OUR journey of being healthy, coming in to terms with self acceptance and to love ourselves fully and wholeheartedly.
And I made a cute logo. Hehe, you may be asking what it is. It’s a pig which I feel illustrates how we think of ourselves sometimes but the pig is thinking of becoming “Healthy by 20”, but at the same time the pig is cute and charming just like all of us :) Any thoughts or ideas of how “Healthy by 20” logo should be?

Probably one of the biggest fitness killers. You get caught up watching tv when you’re supposed to be exercising, or you get so into talking on the phone with your friends and you vow to exercise the next morning…but never does happen.
Yup, it happens to the best of us. I believe that these are some good tips to commit to exercising. Hopefully I can beat this procrastination problem so I will reach my goal :)
1) Schedule your fitness in an alarm basis. We all have cellphones so make sure that when it’s time to start your workout, have your alarm on loud so it will catch your attention and help you kickstart your workout routine.
2) Try to do you workout in a scheduled basis. A consistent schedule allows your body to become familiar with the workout time..and maybe eventually your body will crave it!
3) That’s actually all the tips I have for now! But I felt the need to add a 3rd line cause leaving it at 2 seems a little weird..or maybe I’m weird 0.0
Hehe, well I will try to practice what I preach :)
But for now, I’m going to take at least a day off. I just finished my Nursing Anatomy Final! Woohoo! After my one day break its back to my workout routine!
Hello! I’m currently sitting in the library. I’m supposed to be studying for my cumulative Anatomy Final (BIOL 2033, eek!), but I just wanted to update my followers on my progress today.
Breakfast: Banana Nut Cheerios w/ Organic Milk (YUM!)
Lunch: Somen Salad
Exercise: About 15 minutes of brisk walking. Not enough, but for a busy day today, I’ll let it go. Maybe i’ll do some cardio when I get home!
For those of you who don’t know what Somen Salad is, it’s basically a Japanese noodle salad thats light but filling! It has noodles topped with carrots, cucumber, fish cake, julienned egg, ham, scallions and lettuce and is best served cold :) The sauce is sesame oil with some soy sauce and I believe a hint of sugar. Now I got this picture from a website so my portion was half of this but it still filled me up! Really good diet food indeed and very easy to make!
What diet foods are good for you? Message me your answers and I will make a good list for all of us trying to be healthy!
Ciao!
-Healthy By 20 :)
